Quizzes are groups of fill-in-the-blank and open-ended questions that test comprehension of reading material. Whooo's Reading quizzes are designed to apply to any text a student reads, fiction or non-fiction. Students receive immediate feedback while they work on a quiz.
In Starter, quizzes are open-ended questions only. Teachers can score their students' work using our quiz rubric.
In Silver and Gold, quizzes can have up to five fill-in-the-blank questions, and three open-ended questions. Finished quizzes are automatically scored by our autograder.
Promptly after finishing a book or text, students should complete a quiz by clicking on Quizzes under My Goals on the left side of their Student Dashboard.
Then they can search for their book in the book search field.
In Silver and Gold, the quizzes start with fill-in-the-blank questions, which then lead to open-ended questions (in Starter they go straight to open-ended questions). When a student submits a response to an open-ended question, if there are areas for improvement, Owlfonso will pop in with personalized in-the-moment feedback:
Students can update their response to address that feedback and click Check Again to have Owlfonso take another look. To skip Owlfonso's feedback, students can click Next Question:
Students' progress on the quiz is noted by the bar above the quiz, with single gears symbolizing fill-in-the-blank questions and three gears symbolizing open-ended questions:
Once the quiz is complete, a score of 0-4 will be given. A passing score is a 3 or higher (at the default setting). To change the passing threshold, see Customize Scoring Difficulty.
