Exercises are interactive, multi-media activities that get students to think critically and creatively about what they are reading. While Quizzes should only be done after a student finishes a book or text, Exercises can be done at any point.
Exercises are divided by skill set or standard and can apply to any text your students are reading. They are designed to give students intensive practice in the skills that give them the most trouble. Students can complete Exercises on their own, or you can assign specific Exercises to your students. Your Insights tab will automatically suggest Exercises for each students based on their needs.
To assign Exercises to your students, click on Activities in the top left of your teacher account:
On the Activities page, choose the Exercises tab.
By clicking on the drop-down menus, you can choose the grade level, skill set, format, and text type to make browsing Exercises easier:
You can preview the activities by clicking on them. This will open the activity in a new tab and allow you to go through the activity as if you were a student.
Once you find an activity you want to assign to your students. Hover your mouse over the activity and click the Assign button:
This will bring up a window where you can select the students you would like do the exercise:
On the next page of the pop-up window, you can opt to add a due date and a specific book you want the students to complete the exercise for.
Students will see the exercises you have assigned on their student dashboard:
Exercises that align with standards or skills that students are struggling with will automatically be suggested for you to assign on the Insights page.
